Woodland Fairy & Friends (Sawyer's 1st Birthday)

Sawyer's 1st birthday was a Woodland Fairy & Friends themed party. I set the cupcakes up like this just to get a shot before I packed them up for the party. They way Valerie had everything displayed at the party was much cuter, but I'm lame and forgot to get a picture. I also forgot to get a picture of the chocolated pretzels. Maybe when she posts her pictures I will be able to steal a few. :)

Sawyer's smash cake was a sugar-free & egg-free apple spice cake with sugar-free cream cheese icing. I will be completely honest with you, this icing was very difficult to work with. Because it doesn't contain any sugar at all, it basically defies all cake decorating rules. :) Knowing how difficult it would be to work with, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, because I didn't think I would be able to get it even remotely smooth or get it to pipe to create any decorations at all.

Red velvet mini cupcakes with cream cheese icing. These were mushroom and moss cupcakes. I had quite a few questions about what the "moss" was made out of. :) Don't worry...it is completely edible.

Christmas Sugar Cookies

I posted our my Christmas cookies on my other blog. They just didn't seem to fit here on my cake blog.

Christmas Cupcakes

Red velvet cupcakes with homemade italian buttercream icing.

I know that red velvet is traditionally iced with cream cheese icing, but my family LOVES italian buttercream. It is the only icing that is ever used on any homemade birthday cake that has come out of any of our kitchens!

Baby Chucks

This is a practice shoe I made with some leftover fondant from last week's cupcakes. It is a scaled-down version, but a pair of these would be super cute on a baby shower cake!

Another Cake Pop Disaster

We were supposed to go over to the Jacksons' today for football, but that was before I realized how unrealistic it was for me to think I could actually go enjoy myself and then come home and be able to finish with my way too much housework and school work to do around here.

Anyway, I stayed up late last night after our LONG day of parties yesterday (the fourth party we never even made it to) to make some football cake pops. I decided to add a little more frosting than I usually do, thinking they would taste better. They sure did taste better, but by this morning most of the cake pops either had cracks in the chocolate or had fallen off their sticks. I was so mad about the cake pops not working and about the fact that I couldn't go, that I just tossed them in the trash and didn't even think to take a picture of the disaster that was my football cake pops.

I guess I learned to NOT add extra frosting into the mix!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

I made these little pumpkin cupcakes for my students and teachers that I work with for tomorrow. Yes, they're very simple. The reason? Because I made 96 of them!

Yes, I said 96!
